When my surgery almost broke us apart

Illness tested our marriage more than love ever had. With Pandit Ji’s guidance, we found strength instead of blame.

Last year I went through a major surgery. Physically, I was healing, but emotionally our marriage was breaking. My wife carried all the weight—managing the house, our kids, her job, and me lying in bed. Instead of gratitude, I gave her irritation. She grew distant; I grew bitter. What was supposed to unite us nearly pushed us to the edge.

A cousin suggested Dayaram ji, saying, “He doesn’t only help with romance—he steadies relationships where life has tilted.” I was skeptical, but I agreed. On the first call, Daya Sir simply said, “Your body healed through doctors, but your bond also needs healing. Let’s give it that care.”

He began a gentle 7–11 day process, a Yagya done with my name and hers together. He didn’t ask us for grand efforts, just small practices that carried meaning:

  • Begin the day with one shared prayer or moment of silence.

  • No discussing complaints during meals.

  • At night, each of us to share one thing we were thankful for that day—even if it was small.

The rituals he did were on his side; the changes at home were ours. Slowly, tension shifted. My wife no longer looked like a caretaker running out of breath—she began smiling again at the smallest things. I noticed her pain instead of only mine. By the time his process ended, we weren’t just “managing” the crisis—we had found our rhythm back.

Pandit Ji told me something I’ll never forget: “Suffering is real, but it doesn’t have to be a wall. Sometimes it can be the bridge.” For us, it became exactly that. The surgery scar remains, but so does the bond that carried us through it.
