We were ready to sign the papers… until we weren’t

Divorce felt like the only option. But during the process with Pandit Ji, something shifted, and we found a reason to stay.

We had reached the end. The lawyer had drafted the papers, and we agreed to meet him the following week. Our fights had drained into silence, and the love that once felt unshakable now felt like a burden. We told ourselves, “At least we’ll end this with dignity.”

But inside, I was breaking. One evening, scrolling aimlessly, I came across a post of Dayaram ji speaking about how endings are sometimes just fog hiding the real path. I don’t know why, but I reached out.

From the first conversation, Daya Sir didn’t pressure me with false hope. He said, “If your bond is real, give it a few days of grace before you close the door.” He began a 7–11 day Yagya for us, and asked only that we follow some small disciplines: no harsh words, no sleeping in separate rooms, and one meal together each day—whether we talked or not.

At first, it felt pointless. We sat across the table in silence. But by the middle of the process, I noticed the tension softening. There was less blame, more calm. On the seventh day, something unexpected happened—he placed his hand on mine while clearing the dishes. No words, just a small gesture that said, maybe not yet.

By the end of the process, we didn’t sign those papers. Instead, we agreed to try again—with patience this time. The fights haven’t disappeared, but the hostility has. There’s room for kindness again, and that makes all the difference.

Pandit Ji reminded us: “Marriage doesn’t fall apart in one day, and it doesn’t heal in one day. But it can heal—if you choose to give it space.” For us, that space saved our home.
