When anger turned into silence—and silence into love again

My wife and I weren’t fighting loudly—we had stopped speaking. The house was like a waiting room, cold and heavy. She’d eat alone, I’d stay late at work, and the distance felt final. We didn’t even say the word “divorce,” but it was in the air.


A colleague who had worked with Dayaram ji for his own family issues told me, “He doesn’t just do rituals, he steadies people.” Out of desperation, I called. From the first minute, Daya Sir wasn’t judging either of us. He simply said, “When words break, energy can still be repaired. Let’s work on that first.”


For 7–11 days he performed a Yagya on our behalf. He asked very little of us—only that we respect a few simple boundaries at home:


  • No meals in separate rooms. Even if silent, sit together.


  • Light a small lamp in the evening—not for prayer, but to remind the space it is still a home.


  • No digging into past mistakes during this time.


The first three days were stiff. We sat together, but it was like strangers at a bus stop. By day five, something softened. She passed me the salt without the usual hesitation. By day seven, we managed a short laugh over our daughter’s drawing.


When the process ended, the silence had changed shape—it was no longer hostile, but calm. Words began to return slowly, gently. We didn’t fix everything in a week, but we found our way back into the same room, into the same meal, into the same life.


Pandit Ji reminded us: “Love doesn’t disappear; it hides under hurt. Remove the weight, and it breathes again.” That’s what this process did—it gave us room to breathe together.
